The 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup is an upcoming football tournament that will be hosted by Qatar. The country has never before hosted a major international event, but it is confident that the World Cup will be a success.

The event will take place from November 21 to December 18, 2022. It will be the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup and the first time it has been held in Asia.

Criteria for working of pots

Seven teams will include Qatar in pot 1. The total number of pots is 4. First, we will move towards pot 2. Additionally, in pot 2 teams ranked 8 to 15 will be included. 24 to 28 are included in pot 4 whereas the other 3 will be categorized as two winners of the intercontinental playoff whereas the remaining one is the UEFA playoff winner. Apart from this, there will be another draw which will take place on Friday.

Important Exclusions

1. Due to the invasion of Ukraine, Russia will not be a part of the draw as it was disqualified from the playoffs.

2. On the other hand Algeria, Egypt, and Nigeria will not be seen in the World cup as they failed to qualify.

3. In addition to this Italy will also not feature in the World cup.

It will be the first-ever tournament to be held in an Arabic county. This will be the last tournament which will consist of 32 teams overall while in the next version there will be 48 teams featuring at the world cup 2026.
